Requirement: A fun homepage explainer video, bursting with personality

The Requirement

Dynamite Studio is an Orlando-based photography company that is self-described as taking “kick-ass documentary images and videos based around a company’s story and product/service”, so we knew that their video needed to be bursting with personality!

They were eager for the video to be quirky and very different to typical explainer videos because of how saturated the photography market is. After all, their fun personality is what makes them stand out among their competitors. However, it was also important to them that their competitors were not portrayed in a negative light, so we had to keep this in mind when creating the script.

Another key requirement for this project was to include both founders and their dogs in the video as illustrated characters. This meant recreating photographs in a style chosen by the client, which was a fun challenge and allowed their personality to shine through just that little bit more!

The Solution

A personality-led homepage explainer video that helps Dynamite Studio stand out from the crowd

It’s always fun when a brand comes to us for an explainer video that is completely out-there and different to what everyone else in the market is doing. It allows our creatives to really do what they do best. For our copywriter, Samantha, this meant developing a story that heavily portrayed the personalities of the founders of Dynamite Studio, while drawing everything back to their passion and skill for photography.

The illustrator for this project, Dan, faced possibly the biggest challenge. He needed to create a storyboard that was quirky, fun, and colourful, but also represented the likeness of the founders of the brand. Dynamite Studio sent us a couple of photographs of themselves and also some illustrations that they liked. From there, Dan created a completely new style for them with characters that were quirky and eccentric, but also human enough to be relatable. Long story short: they loved it and the style has been requested by MANY clients since.

Our animator, Tom, used his skills to infuse the project with a high energy and fast pace that matched the brand’s personality. The storyline created a few hurdles for him – such as animating a rollercoaster ride and a monkey attack! – but he took it in his stride and the end product is a fun, energetic, and slightly wacky, homepage explainer video that is sure to turn the heads of anyone visiting the Dynamite Studio website.
